Here's what our installation process actually looks like, from the first walkthrough to the final startup.

1. Site & Space Evaluation

Heat pump water heaters need a minimum amount of air volume around them to draw heat from efficiently, so we start by evaluating where the unit will go — garage, basement, or utility closet — and checking clearance, ambient temperature, and airflow.

If the space is too tight or too cold, we'll talk through options like louvered doors, ducting the intake/exhaust, or a different placement, before any work begins.

2. Electrical & Plumbing Preparation

Most hybrid heat pump water heaters run on a dedicated 240V circuit. We check your existing panel capacity and wiring, and if an upgrade is needed, we handle that as part of the job rather than leaving you to sort it out separately.

We also run a condensate drain line, since these units pull moisture out of the air as they operate and need a clear path for it to drain.

3. Removing the Old Unit & Setting the New One

We safely disconnect and dispose of your old water heater, then set, level, and secure the new unit, connect the water lines, and complete the electrical and condensate hookups.

4. Startup, Testing & Walkthrough

Once everything is connected, we power on the system, verify it's heating correctly in hybrid mode, and check for leaks at every connection point. Before we leave, we walk you through the control panel — hybrid, heat pump-only, and electric-only modes — so you know how to get the most savings out of your new system.
